Christmas with Paulini!

{mosimage}

Tis the silly season!

And rumours abound once more that Paulini is doing a “Christmas album”.

Despite alleged sightings of advertising on tv, nothing official has been released so for now we can only wait and  see (as usual). [ed: since this was written details of a "mini-album" have been officially released]

BUT we DO know that Paulini is featuring on a number of albums being released in time for Christmas. These include: Pepsi, Best of 2004 (Angel Eyes, release date 15 November);  So Fresh – Hits of Summer 2005 & The Biggest Hits of 2004 (We Can Try, release date 21 November); Hits for kids: Volume 6 (Angel Eyes) and a track on So Fresh Presents Songs For Christmas 2004 due out on November 22.

Her track on the Christmas album is perhaps the most exciting as she is in some stellar company with this release. Her song is also a beautiful soulful Christmas song which will suit Paulini brilliantly (although I really want her to release her version of Operator some time).

Paulini is featured along with some of the best artists of all time, including Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald, Luther Vandross, Frank Sinatra, Elton John and the Seekers.

Paulini’s song is called Grown Up Christmas List, written by David Foster & Linda Thompson Jenner and performed by Natalie Cole and Michael Buble (amongst others).

The lyrics to Paulini’s song are:

Grown Up Christmas List

Do you remember me
I sat upon your knee
I wrote to you with childhood fantasies

Well I’m all grown-up now
And still need help somehow
I’m not a child
But my heart still can dream

So here’s my lifelong wish
My grown-up Christmas list
Not for myself
But for a world in need

CHORUS
No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
Everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end
This is my grown-up Christmas list

As children we believed
The grandest sight to see
Was something lovely
Wrapped beneath our tree

Well heaven surely knows
That packages and bows
Can never heal a hurting human soul

CHORUS

BRIDGE
What is this illusion called
The innocence of youth
Maybe only in our blind belief
Can we ever find the truth

CHORUS

Do you remember me
I sat upon your knee
I wrote to you with childhood fantasies

Well I’m all grown-up now
And still need help somehow
I’m not a child
But my heart still can dream

So here’s my lifelong wish
My grown-up Christmas list
Not for myself
But for a world in need

CHORUS
No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
Everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end
This is my grown-up Christmas list

As children we believed
The grandest sight to see
Was something lovely
Wrapped beneath our tree

Well heaven surely knows
That packages and bows
Can never heal a hurting human soul

CHORUS

BRIDGE
What is this illusion called
The innocence of youth
Maybe only in our blind belief
Can we ever find the truth

CHORUS

I’ve hunted down a snippet of the song being sung by Natalie Cole and will try and post it her soon for you to hear.
