Musicians raise $3800 for Ravai

THE Fiji Musicians Association raised $3800 during the Tui Ravai Memorial Concert in Sydney two months ago.

Concert director Seru Serevi said his band was touring Sydney when they heard of Mr Ravai’s death and decided to financially help his widow, Neli, and their five children.

Mr Serevi said the money had been transferred into a Tui Ravai Trust Fund, which had been handed over to Mrs Ravai.

“The concert was a success and was in memory of a great musician,” he said.

“Since he was the sole breadwinner for the family, we decided to do this to assist Neli.”

Mr Ravai was treasurer for the association.

The concert was held in Club Fiji, a popular Fijian nightclub in Sydney.

“Many thanks to the director of this nightclub, Robert Howard, who gave us the venue for free,” Mr Serevi said.

He said there were six performances during the concert from various bands and musicians such as Kabani, Mixx, Kool Running, Paulini Curuenavuli, Kaiviti and Tropical Breeze.

Mr Serevi said there was a huge response from the Fijian community in Sydney. Another concert will be held on Sunday to add to the trust fund.
