Heya. I’ve typed up a transcript for ya’ll of Shannon on the radio with our brekky crew, Kim and Dave, this morning.
Sorry it’s kinda long…
Oh and also i missed the first few seconds, sleeping sorry, you know
how it is.
S = Shannon, K = Kim and D = Dave
(They’re talkin bout the logies)
S: Didn’t know what to expect cause I hadn’t really been there before as you’d expect sorta thing but umm yeah, I had a good night mate. I was glad to get the song up and outta the road pretty early so we got to sit back and relax
D: Were you nervy?
S: Yeah it all sorta went together pretty quick and there were so
many people doin the run round behind the stage sorta thing..
K: I thought u guys did a great job and I thought it sent a fantastic
message to popstars
S: Yea, yea i was happy about that.
K: No u did a great job.
D: C’mon, let’s get it outta here. Popstars whaddya make of it?
S: Ahh mate ya know i mean I don’t have a go at anone who’s just
having a go, ya know but ummm I got a bit of a serve off molly tho
ahhh
K + D: YOU DID?!?!
S: Ahh yeah. Mark + him were havin a bit of a go and um, I just
happend to walk on past and Mark went “Go on then big mouth, tell him
what u were telling me”
K: What’d he say?
S: He just said oh well you know, you won’t make it overseas and..
K + D: **GASP**
S: The GP was terrible and all that sorta stuff
K: What’s GP?
S: Ohh the grand prix down here when I did the national anthem.
K: Did he have a go..what’d you say to him???
S: Ahhh well you know i coulda, i thought to meself, well give him
heaps, but then i thought no, u know, what the hell.
D: How good would this of been tho – if you’d gone over and decked
him
K: **Laughs**
S: Yeah i know well that’s what i thought but then, u know, you can
go and punch some old doode layin in the street for askin for change
but it wouldn’t be much of a victory
D: **Laughs**
K: Yeeea exactly. Oh we don’t like Molly anymore. You can’t pick on
Shannon Noll! Shannon rocks!
S: Nahhh right, i though, it’s a bit, your a bit harsh mate i’m just
having a go and that’s..that’s…that’s what i’ll do.
K: Well they reckon they’res been a big push down here for the AI
auditions…
S: Yep
K: They’ve gone thru all the reasons why people should have a go, as
u say….
S: yeah!
K: and one of them has been ‘look if your not satisfied with reason
1, 2, 3 and 4, how bout the fact Shannon Noll’s gunna make a million
bucks this year’. Is that true?
S: Yeah i dunno mate. Actually umm ahhh it depends om how the album
sells i spose. And it’s going really really well so far but theyre’s
all the things that i don’t know alot about like recouping and all
that sorta stuff, so um i’ll prolly have to wait till the end of the
year. I think um, touring and that, you know helps alot too sorta
thing, but i dunno how far.. how many shows i’ll get done and that
sorta stuff or how many people i’ll get out to see during the year.
So.. that’ll all depend on alot of different stuff.
K: You must be workin really hard there…
D: How do u work out how much of it’s yours and how much of it’s
theirs? Have u got an accountant of your own? a manager or who?
S: Yeah got an accountant mate, but umm you know alot of it….alot
of it’s good faith i think.
K: Now umm I also read too that you and your loverly wife went off
and had a weekend away together but umm…
S: yeah
K: You’ve managed to afford already to buy a house in Sydney. That
must make u feel pretty good?
S: Nah, I havent bought crap mate, anywhere
K: Oh it’s crap is it?
S: Yeah no I mean it’s, it’s just so funny. Roch said in Womans day
we might be able to afford a house and I went, we might be able to
afford a deposit for a house! Everythings a bit dearer in Sydney.
S: **Laughs**
K: Oh but.. but.. but the story said you’d bought?
S: Yeah nah I haven’t bought. Mate, i mean….
D: If your looking for something, property is still very good value
here in Hobart, Shannon?
S: Yer i tell ya what mate, least you get a bit of room around ya
too…
D: Absolutley. We can find you something with 5 acres and a view and
you’ll still have change.
S: Ah mate i tell ya what, don’t tempt me.
D: Hang on we’ll have a chat later. Again
K: Yea hang on there shannnon we’ll chat to ya next.

D: We’ll we’ve got a few facts out, he hasn’t made a million dollars
yet, he hasn’t bought a house in Sydney ahhh another fact is that he
doesn’t like Molly Meldrum anymore…
S: **Laughs**
D: He coulda punched him at the ahh night of nights… But what is
happening with Shannon Noll at the moment?
S: Mate i’m ummm, just sorta doin the promo for drive and all that
sorta thing, it’s released today and all that sorta stuff, and then
umm head off on another tour right thru May + June, so ahh.. lookin
foward to that cause i had a heap of fun last time, and they’re
always really good fun.
K: Now your comin back to Tassie on..Hobart June 4th, 5th and you’ve
got another concert on the 6th cause the tickets sold out. If u sorta
get sung out and your voice doesn’t wok, Dave can always step in, he
does a fantastic rendition of Drive…
D: *sings badly* I got a car, i got a big black shiny car* Whadday
reckon?
S: I reckon that’s great! I thought it was the CD playin!
D: I reckon i’m ready for popstars live…
S: **Laugh** Yehhhh suuure, even if u got on there just to punch
Molly for me!
K + D + S: **Laugh**
K: Hopefully down the track we’ll be chattin to Molly, cause there is
a Tassie boy, doin ok in popstars live…
S: yeah
K: So look if we get Molly on, we’ll stick up for you, don’t you
worry bout that.
S: Yeah good on ya guys thank you. I just thought it was a bit
ahh..bit outta line.
K: It was
D: What do u think is happening with A I 2? Given that popstars live
is taking a little bit of a dive…
S: yep
D: Can u see A I Making a comeback? what’s the difference?
S: Mate i think so yeah, umm I dunno… i dunno sort of umm i think
just the formula and the whole outlay of the show just works and umm
and i think maybe with popstars they tried to ahh…make it better by
doing a little few things different and umm i think the worst part
was that they were the main parts that made A I what it was.
K: yeah
S: Umm i thnk with popstars it’s just a bit too much love…
K: yeeess
S: And i think umm people aren’t stupid u know and they’ll think,
what made dicko so popular on Idol, even tho alot of things he said
was controversial, they’re what people actually thought and people
were at home sorta goin yeah yeah thats right, ya know. So i think
umm just…just that…that’s the main difference that i can see.
K: It’s just a slicker production too, everything about A I is just
so much better than popstars and….
S: Yep
K: Sadly, i think you’ve over shadowed them Shannon.
S: Yeah mate well you know i’m umm i’m.. i’m having a ball with it
and and and i’d umm I’d advise anyone too to go in the idol
competition cause it’s like changed my life forever.
D: I make this prediction… Shannon Noll you are the next
generations John Farnham.
S: Yeah oh mate, i’m gunna have a crack at it anyway **laugh**
D: No it’s.. in this way mums and dads and familys all round Aus love
you, don’t they?
S: Yeah mate you know like, oh it’s been amazing the umm the feedback
and all that sorta stuff and just the tours gettin sold out and all
that sorts thing around QLD and and then next tour of course. Its
just… it’s been amazing the way that umm..and the crowds! you know
the vibe of the crowds at each show is just amazing.
K: I think Dave’s right, you’ve got everyone from little kids to
grandma’s that wanna come and see you, which is why your shows are
sellin out, which is why your doing so well and which is why you’ll
make a million bucks!
S: Yeahhh **Laugh** Well fingers crossed, anyway mate.
K: We love Shannon Noll and we’ll see you on june 4 5 6 here in Hobart
S: Lookin foward to it Kim + Dave, thanx so much.
K: Shannnon Noll rocks, buy his tickets.
